Siege Mentality - Poem

SIEGE MENTALITY

(Copyright 2020, by Dave Kiffer)

You can always raise the drawbridge,
It’s just easier to the blame the ‘other’
Even though the stocks then run short,
A wall works better on you than them,
And you spend all day looking out
As if to stare down the danger
While the empty hours grow longer
And the sun still pokes through the cracks
You can always raise the drawbridge,
Yet problem is not without, but within
