DANCING AT THE FOOT OF THE FALLS - Poem

DANCING AT THE FOOT OF THE FALLS

(copyright 2020, by Dave Kiffer)
Some see chaos in the bucking and leaping
The endless dancing at the foot of the falls,
The noses grinding against the nonstop current,
The explosive pirouettes away from the seals.
But to me, there is flatline symmetry in the fight,
The single act lost in the wave of the group
The fate of the one irrelevant to the push,
Of Bodies thrown mercilessly forward like time.
Their shadows jet about between bear legs,
Marking the borders of life and death,
But that is only momentary, a temporal step,
Till all the lives, float easily back, to the sea.
