A PRAYER - Poem

A PRAYER

(Copyright 2020, by Dave Kiffer)

Saint Medard, patron saint for protection against bad storms,
We ask you to turn away the internal/external storms in our lives
We ask you to intercede with the Almighty to calm us
Like he did with Jesus in the Sea of Galilee
For we need that, really, really,
Really, really, really, really, right now
And, since you are also the patron of prisoners
Look favorably for those of us imprisoned on this bloody Rock
As COVID circles the globe again, and again, and again,
And cancels our every effort to flee Alcatraz
While you're at it, as the patron of the mentally ill,
Let's make it a three-fer, please ease the waters raging within us,
We fear the that they will continue to rise and rise
And rise some more, until they overwhelm us
Saint Medard, pray for us
Amen
