HINDSIGHT - Poem

 HINDSIGHT

(copyright 2020, by Dave Kiffer)

We had never ever heard,
At this time last year,
of a virus named for a beer.

And whom would have thought
What horror could be wrought
By a handshake. hug or cough.

Or that we would shut down
Every place under the stars
Including, oh God no, even the bars.

Leaving all of us to "social"
Through a screen or a mask,
Such a sorrowful, lonely task.

And that hoarders would take all
The TP, the hand soap, the spritz,
Leaving nothing to clean our naughty bits.

So goodbye and good riddance, to 2020,
To you we raise a heartfelt Bronx cheer,
May you fester forever, in the review mirror.
