THE CONSTANT CLOUD - Poem

THE CONSTANT CLOUD

 (copyright 2021, by Dave Kiffer)

We carry our biosphere with us

I was told by a wise person,

Someone who had lived under

This cloud, longer than I.

That explained, she said,

Why ‘Wetnecks’ always

Return to the Rock

With other deluges to report

Traveling locals cause

Unusual weather events

In the warm, sunny places

That we choose to visit.

We break droughts,

We cause flooding,

Dams fail in our presence,

The sun, it seems, fears us.

But that Isn’t a bad thing

She wanted me to know.

There is smooth comfort

In the constant cloud.

It is our place in the world

That goes with us everywhere.

The cloud is always there

Rain or shine.
