FERRY RIDE, FREDERICK SOUND - Poem

FERRY RIDE, FREDERICK SOUND

(copyright 2012, by Dave Kiffer)

Even now I can’t sleep

Through Frederick Sound

The memory of being

Jerked up from my bunk

As the boat heeled

And the iceberg scraped

Slowly along the hull

Inches from my head

Tonight it is dark

Except for the small

Pieces of ice rocking

Through the wake

I assume they saw

Those ones coming
