Man says he is homeless for smoking

Company packs 100,000 cases

PETERSBURG - The steam whistle at the Ocean Beauty seafood plant rattled windows downtown a couple of weeks ago. The whistle was blown to announce the fact the processor had packed 100,000 cases of pink salmon, an important milestone each summer. THE PETERSBURG PILOT

City gets homeless grant

TERRACE - The city has received an $160,000 provincial grant to help deal with homeless issues. Some of the money will be used to provide additional port-a-potties in the downtown area and part will be used to hire someone to work with the city and various other groups to ensure that homeless people are receiving services and help from the community. Chamber loses exempt status

JUNEAU - Tiffany Listberger is the apparent winner of the 75th annual Golden North Salmon Derby with a 31.7-pound king salmon according to the derby’s provisional results. Derby officials say Listberger’s fish is the heaviest to win the derby since 2008. THE JUNEAU EMPIRE
