School future in doubt
KLUKWAN - The future of the local school is in doubt as the Chatham School District has been discussing its fate. The District expected that the Klukwan school would have 12 students this year, more than the state minimum of 10, but thus far total enrollment in Klukwan has been five. THE CHILKAT VALLEY NEWS
Grant sought for dock electrical
JUNEAU - City leaders are awaiting word from the federal government whether Juneau will get a grant to provide electrical service to cruise ships at the Downtown docks. The city is seeking $20 million of the expected $25 million cost. THE JUNEAU EMPIRE

Regalia ‘mocking’ probed
KITIMAT - School officials are investigating a report that a middle school teacher mocked a student who wore regalia to picture day. The incident happened at Mt. Elizabeth Middle School. JUNEAU - Cheryl Fellman likes a challenge and has already run a marathon, hiked the Appalachian Trail and climbed numerous mountains. Grocery tax exemption discussed
HAINES - The borough commerce committee is pondering whether to recommend to a temporary grocery exemption from sales tax. Committee members say a three-month exemption would benefit all residents, but especially low income ones. It is estimated that 15 percent of the borough sales tax receipts come from groceries.
