THE WHITEHORSE DAILY STARMan escapes burning buildingPRINCE RUPERT - A man had to jump from the second story of an apartment building that was on fire on Second Avenue West last week. Officials say there were no injuries, but the building was extensively damaged. The wind child during the building evacuation was estimated at between -5 and -10 Fahrenheit. THE PRINCE RUPERT NORTHERN VIEWBorough: No ATVs on roadsSITKA - The Sitka Borough Assembly has voted to not allow ATVs on local roads, at least for the time being. SMITHERS – Working Parents Without Daycare is asking the city council to petition the province and federal government to provide funding to encourage more day care workers. The group wants financial support for loca childcare workers who are pursuing their ECE qualification and encouragement of qualified childcare workers to move to and serve the Smithers community. Public sentiment is split between those who was more recreational opportunities closer to town and those that are concerned about conflicts between motorized and un motorized users. Holst will hold the position for the rest of the school year. He replaced Bruce Houck, who died in early December.
