- A woman from Odessa, Ukraine has completed a 5,200-mile journey in
the wake of war breaking out in her country. Alla Blazhko-Getman is now
living with her daughter and son in law, Natalia and Hans Baertly in

Haisla Chief faults celebrities
KITIMAT -The chief of the Haisla
Nation is fed up with the "Hollywood A-listers" who are calling on banks
to not fund the Coastal GasLink pipeline. Crystal Smith says the
outside celebrities don't understand how much the natural gas pipeline

School graduate Kendyl Carson may be only a sophomore at Pepperdine

PETERSBIURG - A group of
Petersburg High School students paid their respects to the late US Rep.
Don Young, whose body was laying in state at the US Capitol. The group

Mine approaches opening
SMITHERS - Seabridge Gold says
that it will spend $150M this year to bring the Kerr Sulpherets Mitchell
gold mine into production ready status. The KSM mine, near the upper
Unuk River in BC, is expected to operate for more than half a century
and has approximately 38.5 million ounces of gold, 214 million ounces of
silver and 257 million pounds of molybdenum and 10 billion pounds of

Native leader to meet Pope
WHITEHORSE - Adeline Webber will
join 40 other Canadian Indigenous leaders in a meeting with Pope Francis
in Rome later this month. Webber is currently the administrator for the

Starving cub dies
HAINES - A starving bear cub that
was found last week in a goat pen has died. Officials say they gave the
cub fluids and warmed it but the cub died hours after it was found. THE

Port 'takes out' faulty club refrigeration
PRINCE RUPERT - The Prince Rupert
Port Authority has donated more than $290,000 to the Prince Rupert
Curling Club. The money will be used to replace the club's aging

Who let the dogs out?
SITKA - At 10:36 a.m. an officer reported two dogs running at large in the 600 block of Monastery. They were returned to their owner. At 3:04 p.m. a yellow Lab was reported running at large on Eliason Loop. At
7 p.m. a beagle was reported running at large near the post office. It
