- Madame Cooper's Peepshow Parlor has opened on Broadway with a
four-minute burlesque show featuring peepholes, tassles, singing and "PG
13" stripping, according to owner Madame Cooper who says the entire
operation features a gold rush theme and costumes, more or less. THE

Most dangerous intersection
PRINCE
RUPERT -The most dangerous intersection in Prince Rupert is 5th Ave.
East and West crossing with McBride Str. according to new data released
by the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia with seven motor
vehicle crashes documented in 2021 for that location. Overall, Prince
Rupert has had more than 445 vehicle crashes since 2017. THE PRINCE

Little League not so little
HAINES
-Haines Little League has the most players it has ever had with 87
participants, nearly double last year's total. Officials estimate that
nearly 70 percent of the eligible children in town are involved. THE

Ukrainians arrive
TERRACE
- A Ukrainian family has arrived in Terrace, following in the steps of a
great-great grandfather who came to Western Canada more than 125 years
ago. Larysa Brusanovska and her two children, Darina and Bohdan, arrived
in Terrace in late June and were met by the distant cousin, Peter

Road rage stabbing
SITKA
- A 58-year-old man has been charged with stabbing and seriously
injuring a 61-year-old man during a fight after an incident of road
rage, police say. The incident took place near the Halibut Point Road

One day derby raised funds
HAIDA GWAII - The 14th annual
Paul Bentley Memorial Fishing tournament raised $1,000 for the Swan Bay
Rediscovery Program. Billy Yovanovich won the top prize with a 34.6

Two rescued after skiff sinks
PETERSBURG
- The Coast Guard rescued two boaters from Totem Bay after their skiff
sank. The men were staying at the Island Point Lodge last week when they

Bridge replaced
SMITHERS
- The Babine Lake Road is back open. The road was closed several weeks
ago when a bridge was washed out, but new bridge is now spanning the

Litter may be wolf-dogs
HAINES
- Officials are testing a litter of puppies born in Haines in February
because they suspect the mother dog bred with a wolf. Wolf-dogs are
illegal to possess in Alaska and if the dogs are found to be wolves they
will have to be sent out of state to places where the dogs are legal.

KITIMAT
- Kitimat Firefighters Local 1304 Charity Committee has raised more
than $12,000 for several Kitimat charities. The charity sponsored a
local rock concert featuring The Rats, Lithium, Fictional Kings, and
Sight and Sound Terrace. The concert was free, but the beer garden

- The town had its largest "ship day" earlier this week, when more than
7,000 passengers were in town on three ships, officials say. THE DAILY

New president named
TERRACE
- Coast Mountain College didn't have to go far to find a new president.
Laurie Waye, the interim president and chief executive officer since
last September, will formally take over on August 16. THE TERRACE

Driver rescued from the drink
SKAGWAY
- The fire department had to rescue a motorist earlier this month from
their car, in the ocean, near Dyea Flats. The individual had gone to
sleep in their car on the tide flats and the tide had come in and the
person had to climb on top of the car and call for help. THE SKAGWAY

Town changes name
HAIDA
GWAII -The British Columbia government has approved a proposal to give
the village of Queen Charlotte its traditional name back. Residents
recently voted to restore the name Daajing Giids - which means "common
hat" - to the Haida Gwaii village. THE HAIDA GWAII OBSERVER
