The notice was eventually downgraded to an advisory. THE PRINCE RUPERT NORTHERN VIEWChilkoot tour limit cancelledHAINES - The borough assembly has lifted a four-year moratorium on new tours in the Chilkoot Cooridor. The Cooridor is a popular location on the Chilkoot River about 10 miles from Haines. Tours had been limited because of overcrowding. THE CHILKAT VALLEY NEWSKitimat swimmer wins goldsKITIMAT - Jacob Van Horne had a great week in the pool recently at the BC Summer Games. The 14-year-old member of the Kitimat Marlins won two gold medals (50-meter breaststroke and 100-meter breaststroke) and a bronze in a mixed medley relay. He barely missed out on a medal in the 100-meter freestyle with a fourth-place finish. The boy was out fishing with his grandparents when he reeled in a 45-pounder. On the ballot are proposals to extend a special 1 percent sales tax for five more years, bond $35 million for a new city hall and bond $6.6 million city park improvements. There will be approximately 90 dwellings added if the entire subdivision is built. The keepers quarters are being renovated at the site 17 miles south of Haines. First, the SItka crew had to medivac a 45-year-old woman from Angoon, then it had to medivac a 75-year-old woman from Klawock. Finally, it had to medivac a 79-year-old man from Hoonah. THE DAILY SITKA SENTINELCity workers get 11 percent raisesWHITEHORSE - CIty employees will be an approximately 11 percent wage increase over the next five years.
